Solitude, how does one learn to embrace it

Ever since we are kids, we are told to grow up get a decent job and your soulmate. We are never taught how to be on our own. However, when we finally are left to be alone, we feel lost. But solitude is the way to home.

BEING ALONE IS NOT THE SAME AS FEELING LONELY

We can be surrounded by many people and yet feel lonely inside. Like wise, we can be alone and be blissful too. Let me break it down for you. All our lives, we avoid being in solitude because it is uncomfortable. Let’s face it, there is so much noises in our mind as there are uneasy emotions. Every thing just waiting for us to be solved. In return, we distract ourselves as much as possible in hope that it will magically go away. Knock! It’s still there.

Choosing to be in solitude a few minutes a day helps us connect with our inner selves. It provides us with valuable insights which we can use to work on us. How can we expect others to be with us when we can not stand being alone.

EMBRACING SOLITUDE IS A SKILL THAT CAN BE LEARNED

The way we learned to crawl, or walk or talk, you name it. Everything is learned after we were born. Take your alone time to reflect on your life. Start journaling to be in touch with your emotions. Ask your self all the big questions you have been putting off for later. Get to know the real you. Who are you when no one is looking at you. Are you in a place where you want to be, or is it someone else path you are walking?

It can be very refreshing to spend some time alone. Doing this allows you to realize that you do not need to be glued to someone to feel happy. Though you might not feel, but you are already whole. There is no need to act as if half of you is somewhere else missing.
